Public Works Laborer

The City of Peru is accepting applications for a Laborer position in our Public Works Department.  Responsibilities will include repairing water main and sewer breaks, performing hydrant repairs and lift station maintenance.  Additional duties include, but not limited to, snowplowing, street sweeping, mowing, and performing chipper service.  Candidates must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, reside within 10 miles of Peru within 6 months of employment, and possess a CDL driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of employment. Please complete the Full-Time Employment Application located here or picked up at our drive through located at the Peru Municipal Building.  Please have applications submitted by January 13th

Electric Department Operator Maintenance

The City of Peru is accepting applications for an Operator Maintenance in our Electric Department. Responsibilities will include operating and maintaining generators, high voltage equipment, DC equipment, pumps, motors, hydraulics, gas, and internal combustion engines.

Additional duties include, but not limited to, monitoring SCADA system and troubleshooting pneumatic, high-pressure steam, hydraulic, and lubricating systems.

Candidates must have the ability to read latter logic, schematics and be mechanically inclined.  Additionally, must have a valid Illinois Class A CDL or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment, be able to lift a maximum of 50 pounds, and be able to perform manual labor under various working and weather conditions.

Candidates with a more extensive electrical background are encouraged to apply.

Building & Zoning Inspector

The City of Peru is accepting resumes for a full-time Building & Zoning Inspector.  This position is responsible for enforcing the City’s zoning ordinance and all adopted building codes, including plumbing, electrical and energy. This position will also review and respond to all building and zoning requests.

Qualified individual will be knowledgeable and have previous experience with the basic principles and techniques of structural building inspections, permit process and building codes.
